Time for a mid-week treat, friends! Let’s dig into some happy things, shall we?

What I’m Loving

Well, it’s been an embarrassment of riches for me lately. Thanks to my guiding light, Julie Soto, I fell head over heels in love with the new TV adaptation of Interview With The Vampire last year and I have finally got Jeff (my very lucky husband, for those who don’t know) to join me in the coven. If you haven’t watched it yet, please let this be the sign you should. The first episode isn’t my favourite but that’s so often the case with a new show – you’ve got to set the tone and dump loads of exposition to build a world very quickly – but once Lestat appears on screen, it’s game over. The show is funnier, sexier and smarter than I could’ve guessed, super compelling and just an overall good time. Please, please, please give it a go.

When I wasn’t reading, writing or watching gay vampires, I was very busy enjoying the Royal Rumble. If you didn’t know I’m a pro-wrestling girlie then, surprise! And also, how?! Truly it is one of my most enduring loves, as proven weekly on the podcast I co-host, Tights and Fights:

Since the WWE signed their near-worldwide deal with Netflix, we can all watch Raw together, and if you’re anywhere but America, you can watch ALL THE LIVE EVENTS ON NETFLIX AS PART OF YOUR SUBSCRIPTION! I mean, wow. What a deal. For newcomers or people returning to their lost love, the Royal Rumble is the best event to welcome you into this wild world – thirty men and thirty women compete in an over the top rope battle royal for a chance to main event Wrestlemania, coming up in April and honestly, you don’t need to hear any more about it from me, just go and watch it. I’m serious, right now. What are you waiting for? I’ll be right here…

As requested, today we’re going to be talking about affordable faves. Happily, this has become a real sweet spot for me of late because I simply cannot bring myself to spend absurd amounts of money on makeup at the moment. I mean, I’m waiting for America to go full Handmaid’s Tale any minute so spending $90 on a foundation feels a bit foolish. Thankfully, the beauty industry has stepped up and I don’t think there’s a single category that doesn’t have at least one affordable, top-of-its-class product.
