The only thing better than a little treat is current you buying a little treat for future you and the easiest way to do that is to PRE-ORDER BOOKS. Pre-ordering books is wonderful. You get the book, the author gets to look more popular and everyone’s a winner. So, if you’re on board, might I draw your attention to some books I think might be worth your time in the coming months?
Please note this newsletter is wildly biased towards friends of mine and people I wish were my friends because they’re really cool but I do also stand by the books. Just FYI.
Lia Louis - Better Left Unsent
Lia’s books are funny, romantic and FULL of heart so if you’re looking for some feelgood lols, get onboard. Better Left Unsent follows our heroine Millie, who ACCIDENTALLY sends all of the emails in her drafts folder and hijinks ensue. CAN YOU IMAGINE I CANNOT.
Genuinely furious Lucy had this idea and I didn’t because it’s bloody marvelous - When Ginny was 16, a psychic told her she would meet the love of her life in her 32nd year (amongst other things) but obviously she writes it off as nonsense. Until these predictions start coming true… The only problem is, Ginny is supposed to get married in one month. SEE? It’s GENIUS!
Couldn’t not put Toon in because she’d beat me up. Do you like feeling all your feelings all at once until you’ve no room left for any other feelings and just have to cry? Then you’ll love this!
Rufi Thorpe - Margot’s Got Money Troubles
I adored Rufi’s last book, The Knock Out Queen, and this one includes actual pro-wrestling (my one true love) so you know I’m desperate to read it. Also it comes out on the same day as Love Story which makes me think we’re fated book twins and no, I’m not being weird, I just think she’s super cool and funny and a good writer, OK. Seriously, it’s already been optioned for a very fancy TV show so pre-order, do not miss out.
Tia Williams - A Love Song for Ricki Wilde
Another author I love, this is actually top of my current TBR pile and I cannot wait to get stuck in. Tia’s writing is gorgeous and this book has everything I love - New York, fancy people, artists and sexy, sexy romance. It’s out in ONE WEEK so a perfect Valentines gift to self.
Daisy is such a good writer it’s honestly upsetting. Pity Party, her fourth novel, tells the story of Katherine, a 32 year-old-widow who is encouraged to visit a wellness retreat by her mother-in-law and honestly, it’s funny, it’s touching and it’s extremely relatable. I am a Katherine. We are all a Katherine. To combine two John Green novels, it’s Katherines All The Way Down. Can’t wait for July so you can all read it.
Yes, I’m at it again, this time with a screwball-inspired, enemies-to-lovers, small town romcom about a romance writer, who is pretending she isn’t a romance writer, and falls for the worst possible person. Obvs. WHAT LARKS.
Surprise! I have another book out this year and this one is the first in the Savannah Red Saga, a YA fantasy trilogy inspired by my love of all things Twilight, Vampire Diaries and of course, Buffy. Let’s just read the blurb on this one, shall we?
After Emily’s father tragically dies, she is forced to live with the only family she has left, an aunt and grandmother in the heart of Savannah, Georgia in a house as beautiful as it is mysterious.
But all is not what it seems with the Bell family; they’re hiding a magical secret.
When Emily meets the alluring Wyn, she forms a connection that feels like it was always meant to be. As the spark between them grows more powerful, her life takes an exhilarating and terrifying turn; but every step closer to him, takes her a step further away from her family.
Emily will find out that blood is always thicker than water, and that there is no bond greater than magic.
OOOH! It’s SO EXCITING! Definitely pls pre-order so they let me write more thank you please thank you.
I have a million more recommendations coming up over the next few months, Elena Armas, Beth O’Leary, Laura Stevens, Kiley Reid, Venita Blackburn, honestly, the list goes on but I don’t want to overwhelm you so I’ll be back with more later. Future you is going to thank you for this, trust me!
